Abstract: Aging is a natural process that can impact the functionality of the elderly and their self-management. In this context, balance emerges as a crucial element to promote quality of life at this stage. Improving balance through physical exercise is essential as it will strengthen muscles, motor coordination and the confidence of elderly people in their daily activities. The aim of the review is to identify training prescriptions that can improve balance in older adults. Materials and methods: Article searches were carried out using the Medline, Lilacs and IBECS databases. 1129 articles were found; 10 studies were eligible. The studies have varied samples, modalities and training programs, all of which aimed to measure the improvement in balance according to that intervention stated in their methodologies. These articles were divided into aerobic and strength exercises. It is concluded that exercises in general, strength or aerobic, when practiced, can have positive results on balance in the elderly, but we can highlight the combined exercises, which had very significant results.
