Abstract: Gender-based violence constitutes one of the most serious violations of human rights and one of the main challenges faced by public security institutions in Brazil. Despite legislative advances and public policies implemented over recent decades, rates of violence against women remain high, especially in regions marked by social inequalities and limited access to public services. In Western Pará, the territorial characteristics of the Amazon region, combined with logistical difficulties and population dispersion, impose additional challenges in combating domestic and family violence. This study aims to analyze gender-based violence in Western Pará from 2019 to 2025, emphasizing the role of the Military Police of the State of Pará (PMPA) in addressing violence against women. It is an applied, documentary, and bibliographic study, developed through a qualitative and quantitative approach, based on legislation, institutional documents, official reports, and specialized scientific literature. The results indicate that domestic violence remains one of the primary demands placed on public security agencies, requiring rapid and integrated responses. In this context, the Military Police of the State of Pará plays a strategic role through emergency response services, preventive and visible policing, monitoring compliance with protective measures, preventive actions, and coordination with the network of services dedicated to the protection of women. It is concluded that strengthening preventive actions, expanding the training of public security professionals, improving interinstitutional integration, and broadening protection mechanisms for women are essential measures for reducing gender-based violence in Western Pará.
