  Traumatic injuries to the lower urinary tract occur in approximately 10% of abdominal trauma. Bladder injuries can be divided into: extra peritoneal, intraperitoneal and combined. Intraperitoneal trauma has been the basis for surgical treatment, but conservative treatment, with bladder catheterization, has been shown to be advantageous in selected cases.
