Abstract: This text describes the educational transitions from the high school level to the higher level in three engineering courses: Electronics, Mechatronics and Renewable Energy in order to identify decisions with risk of school dropout, which affects the efficiency of the respective educational programs. The study has a quantitative approach, the survey technique and the questionnaire are used as a research instrument, the statistical analysis responds to a functional method of comparison and identification of functional equivalences in the decisions. Among the results is a similarity of the tendencies to abandon the career and the choice for social reasons and the use of more time to choose another career as a strategy. This text describes the educational transitions from the high school level to the higher level in three engineering courses: Electronics, Mechatronics and Renewable Energy in order to identify decisions with risk of school dropout, which affects the efficiency of the respective educational programs.
