Abstract: This article aims to provide an overview of the normal costal arch cartilage anatomy, and how it is used as autogenous graft material for cartilage reconstruction surgeries; to explain how to evaluate the costal arch cartilages (degree of calcification, and calcification morphological patterns) on X-Ray, CT scan, and ultrasound; to exemplify how to report the normal and abnormal crucial findings to the surgeon; and finally, to introduce the related surgical cartilage reconstructive techniques.
