RESOURCE DEPENDENCE THEORY AND SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION: Barriers and Incentives in the Industrial Sector

This study addresses resource dependence theory and its relationship with sustainable innovation in the industrial sector. It is justified by the social and economic relevance of environmentally responsible practices, considering the impact of the industrial sector as a consumer of resources. The general objective is to identify and categorize strategic resources that facilitate or hinder sustainable innovation, while the specific objectives involve analyzing barriers and strategies to reduce dependence on critical resources. The qualitative methodology, based on a literature review of the past ten years, enables the identification of barriers and incentives to sustainability, highlighting challenges and opportunities. The results reveal that dependence on distributors and the lack of critical resources are factors that limit innovation, but suggest strategies such as diversification of business partners and investments in sustainable technologies. This work contributes to managers and researchers, providing a basis for the improvement of sustainable strategies that align economic efficiency and environmental responsibility.
