Abstract: This study investigated gamification as an innovative pedagogical strategy, grounded in learning theories, active methodologies, and digital culture. Through a literature review, works were analyzed that demonstrate how gamification, when applied with intentionality and solid theoretical foundation, promotes motivation, engagement, autonomy, and meaningful learning. Authors such as Piaget, Vygotsky, and Ausubel support the cognitive, social, and symbolic aspects of using games and playful elements in the educational process, while Gagné highlights the intrinsic motivational factors associated with student engagement. Furthermore, Kapp, Bacich, Moran, Santos, and Silva present gamification as a contemporary practice aligned with current educational demands, emphasizing active knowledge construction and student protagonism. The results also indicate challenges such as teacher training, instructional design, and the integration of digital technologies with pedagogical intentionality. It is concluded that gamification represents a promising approach to transform educational processes, as long as it is applied critically, contextually, and supported by solid theoretical principles.
