STRENGTHENING MATHEMATICAL REPRESENTATION AND COMMUNICATION CAPACITY THROUGH THE USE OF SEMIOTICS REPRESENTATION REGISTERS
El objetivo de esta investigación fue mejorar la capacidad de comunicación y representación matemática de los estudiantes de la asignatura de Cálculo I de la Escuela Profesional de Matemática de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad Nacional de Piura (UNP) empleando para ello una propuesta didáctica basada en la teoría de registros semióticos de Raymond Duval y compuesta por un conjunto de problemas sobre derivadas.
El enfoque de la investigación fue cuantitativo y como resultados se obtuvo que el uso de varios registros semióticos mejoró la capacidad de representación y comunicación de las ideas matemáticas contribuyendo a potenciar la resolución de problemas. Durante la investigación se observó que los estudiantes presentaron dificultades para realizar la conversión de registros. Además, las actitudes personales y colectivas relacionadas con la capacidad para resolver problemas se fortalecieron.

Abstract:
The objective of this research was to improve the communication skills and mathematical representation of the students of the Calculus I subject of the Professional School of Mathematics of the Faculty of Sciences of the National University of Piura (UNP) using a didactic proposal based on in Raymond Duval's theory of semiotic registers and composed of a set of problems on derivatives.
The focus of the research was quantitative and as a result it was obtained that the use of several semiotic registers improved the capacity of representation and communication of mathematical ideas, contributing to enhance problem solving. During the investigation, it was observed that the students presented difficulties in converting records. In addition, personal and collective attitudes related to the ability to solve problems were strengthened.
