SPLENECTOMY IN A PATIENT WITH REFRACTORY LUPUS-ASSOCIATED THROMBOCYTOPENIA - CASE REPORT

Abstract:
Thrombocytopenia in Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is frequent and sometimes difficult to manage. The efficacy of splenectomy in this group of patients is controversial. We present the case of a patient with SLE-associated thrombocytopenia refractory to multiple pharmacological therapies and who achieved therapeutic response only after splenectomy.
