VACCINATION STATUS AND PERCEPTIONS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF VACCINES AT A MEDICAL SCHOOL IN MINAS GERAIS
The high rate of vaccination coverage, which has always been a feature of Brazil's immunization policy, has fallen in recent years. The issue is drawing the attention of scientists and health professionals. Associated with the drop in the vaccination rate, some pathologies, previously considered to be eradicated by vaccines, have once again become a concern for the health sector. In this scenario, it is necessary to understand the reasons that led to this change, but also to analyze how future professionals in the field connect with the vaccination situation in Brazil. To this end, this study surveyed 140 students at a medical school in Minas Gerais to understand and measure adherence and their perceptions on the subject. The aim is to highlight the importance of immunizing students to protect individual health, patient safety in hospital settings and public health in general, since adequate vaccination coverage is crucial to prevent students from becoming disease vectors.
