Abstract: This article describes the synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles using an environmentally friendly methodology, that is, the replacement of toxic and high-cost chemical reagents with secondary metabolites obtained from plants native to the region (Argentina, Chile and Peru), specifically Buddleja globosa (matico) and the use of water as a reaction medium, which will always be preferred over traditional organic solvents. The experimental results indicate that through this green synthesis it is possible to reduce silver ions, obtaining a relatively uniform nanomaterial, with a size between 63 and 90 nm. The presence of silver (Ag) was confirmed by EDX spectroscopy. The potential of this type of materials in wound healing is raised based on the potential antimicrobial properties of silver and the anti-inflammatory and healing qualities that matico presents.
