Resilience of Global Supply Chains in the Face of Tariffs, Embargoes, and Geopolitical Conflicts

Global supply chains have been increasingly pressured by an international environment marked by the intensification of trade tariffs, economic embargoes, and geopolitical conflicts, which expose structural vulnerabilities stemming from their high interdependence and operational complexity. In this context, this study analyzes the impacts of these factors on the organization and stability of global value chains, as well as the strategies adopted by companies and economic blocs to mitigate risks and strengthen operational resilience. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining bibliometric analysis of recent literature with a case study applied to the use of artificial intelligence in supply chain management. The results show a significant growth in research and practical applications of digital technologies, especially artificial intelligence, machine learning, and predictive analytics, aimed at anticipating disruptions, diversifying suppliers, optimizing logistics, and supporting strategic decision-making. It is concluded that the systematic incorporation of these technologies, combined with risk management strategies and productive reconfiguration, constitutes a fundamental element for building more resilient, adaptable, and competitive supply chains capable of responding effectively to external shocks in a global scenario characterized by high geopolitical and economic instability.
