Relevance of sustainability in dairy production systems in the State of Veracruz, Mexico
El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar Sistemas Ganaderos de Doble Propósito (SGDP) del municipio de Tlalixcoyan, Veracruz. Con la finalidad de identificar riesgos para hacer frente a los impactos ambientales, sociales, económicos y de gobernanza, por lo cual, los datos fueron analizados mediante estadística descriptiva. A partir de lo anterior, se encontró que los sistemas presentan bajo uso de tecnología e insumos externos y que carecen del conocimiento de normatividad para producir alimentos innocuos; que este tipo de sistemas aprovecha las oportunidades que se dan en los mercados, vendiendo leche o carne de acuerdo con los precios de la cadena de suministros y las ofertas del mercado. Actualmente, existe una tendencia por recuperar e innovar en prácticas convencionales de sistemas de pequeña escala, considerando este sistema como motor de la economía de poblaciones vulnerables por lo cual es fundamental asegurar su supervivencia en el tiempo de manera competitiva y contribuir a su crecimiento sustentable.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to evaluate Dual Purpose Livestock Systems (SGDP) in the municipality of Tlalixcoyan, Veracruz. In order to identify risks to address environmental, social, economic and governance impacts, the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. From the above, it was found that the systems have low use of technology and external inputs and that they lack knowledge of regulations to produce safe food; that this type of system takes advantage of market opportunities, selling milk or meat according to the prices of the supply chain and market offers. Currently, there is a tendency to recover and innovate in conventional practices of small-scale systems, considering this system as the engine of the economy of vulnerable populations, which is why it is essential to ensure its survival over time in a competitive manner and contribute to its sustainable growth.
