Abstract: Sporotrichosis is a fungal cutaneous infection with global distribution. The disease has several clinical forms, mainly cutaneous with associated lymphadenopathy. Zoonotic transmission associated with scratching and biting of cats has been widely seen, especially in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The purpose of this study is to report a case of sporotricosis in seven-year-old schoolboy, born in the city of Três Rios - RJ, developed after contact with infected feline wounds that lives on the same street as his. The patient presented the left upper limb lymphocutaneous form, a presentation that is usual in adults, but not usually seen in pediatric patients, in which skin forms located on the face and trunk predominate. The patient was treated by oral administration of itraconazole and warm/hot acetic acid compresses. This study highlights the importance of training health professionals, increasing the supplies offered in order to carry out a more assertive diagnosis in the state of Rio de Janeiro, especially in pediatric patients who may or may not present usual lesions.
