Abstract: IPL is a frequently used dermatological technological device, which works as a therapeutic method in light and dark skin with specific parameters that require wavelengths and pulses appropriate to the phototype of skin to be treated. an adverse clinical outcome in the patient. A qualitative, descriptive and inductive study of a clinical case is carried out on a 49-year-old female patient, whose skin is classified as phototype V, with a history of Cinderella Dermatitis, treated for melasma, who is diagnosed with arterial hypertension 24 hours after presenting obvious burn lesions on the cheekbones, after her second dose of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment. This clinical case shows that the personal pathological history of the patient must be taken into account and a correct physical examination must be carried out in order to guarantee a successful aesthetic result and avoid the possible complications that may arise from the use of IPL, either due to unfavorable conditions. skin or comorbidities, as well as the incorrect use of the device in patients for whom its application would not be indicated.
