Abstract: Water represents one of the most important natural resources for sustaining life, economic development, and environmental balance. Increasing urbanization, agricultural expansion, and inadequate waste disposal have intensified water degradation processes, compromising the quality of water intended for human consumption and recreation. This study aimed to evaluate the physicochemical and microbiological quality of residential water, the urban river, and three recreational lagoons in the municipality of Guariba-SP in 2024. Parameters analyzed included: pH, free chlorine, consumed oxygen, total alkalinity, color, total hardness, chlorides, iron, and ammonia, as well as the presence of thermotolerant coliforms and Escherichia coli. The results indicated that residential waters complied with the potability standards established by Brazilian legislation, demonstrating the efficiency of the public water supply system. In contrast, samples from the river and lagoons showed high microbiological contamination, exceeding the limits established by CONAMA Resolution nº 357/2005. The results demonstrate the need to intensify basic sanitation actions, continuous environmental monitoring, and environmental education.
