Abstract: Occupational risk prevention in the public sector is a strategic component for ensuring safe working conditions, protecting employees’ health, and strengthening institutional performance. This study aimed to analyze the main challenges in implementing occupational safety and hygiene programs within institutions belonging to the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches at the state level. A qualitative descriptive-analytical approach was adopted, based on regulatory review, institutional document analysis, and observation of preventive practices in public sector workplaces. The findings revealed limitations in the integration and functioning of safety committees, insufficient training processes, weaknesses in risk monitoring systems, and a limited preventive organizational culture. The study concludes that strengthening occupational safety and health in the public sector requires comprehensive strategies that integrate regulatory compliance, personnel professionalization, monitoring systems, and the development of a preventive institutional culture, contributing to accident reduction and improved workplace well-being.
