Abstract: ' Objective: To identify the prevalence of informal caregivers experiencing Burnout syndrome in the Basic Rehabilitation Unit of the municipality of Comalcalco. Method: A non-experimental, observational, cross-sectional study with a mixed-methods approach was conducted, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative scales. The instruments used were the Zarit Burden Interview and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Results: According to the Zarit scale, the most prevalent characteristics were: female gender, age range between 18–29 years, occupation as homemaker, single marital status, educational level ranging from secondary school to university, and a moderate socioeconomic status. The most common caregiver relationship was daughter-in-law, with daily caregiving provided for more than one year. Based on the Maslach Burnout Inventory, which assesses emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment, out of 50 participants, 26 showed low emotional exhaustion, 9 moderate, and 15 high levels. Regarding depersonalization, 24 had low levels, 13 moderate, and 13 high levels. Finally, for personal accomplishment, 28 reported high levels, 9 moderate, and 13 low levels. Conclusions: Caregiver burden and Burnout syndrome were generally low. Influencing factors included occupation, daily caregiving, and caregiving duration of more than one year. Based on these findings, it is recommended to provide caregivers with information about Burnout syndrome and strategies for its prevention and management.
