Abstract: The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the availability of Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS) in primary health care services in the Northeast region of Brazil, examining the main needs addressed and the challenges related to their implementation. Method: An integrative literature review combined with the analysis of secondary quantitative data from the Primary Care Health Information System, referring to service provision records for the year 2025. The study included scientific publications on the integration of PICS into primary care, as well as official data on the distribution and frequency of these practices in the region. Results: A significant provision of CAM was observed in the Northeast region (63,105 records), although inequalities persist among the states. There was a higher concentration in practices such as needle acupuncture (14,880) and geotherapy (12,836), while others showed low frequency or a lack of records. The main needs addressed were related to mental health and the management of chronic pain, a pattern similar to that observed at the national level. Among the challenges, structural limitations, insufficient investment, management weaknesses, difficulties in information registration processes, and gaps in professional education and training stand out. Conclusion: Despite the expansion of services, the implementation of PICS in the Northeast region remains uneven and marked by structural and institutional barriers.
