Abstract: This article aims to reflect on the formative trajectory and professional experience of an Amazonian art educator, articulating part of their personal memories, pedagogical pratices, and the historical milestones of Art Education in Brazil. How is Art Education reconfigured in the Amazonian territory, amidst the tides of history, culture, public policies, and the pedagogical practices of na art educator involved in teaching the subject of Art Education? From a decolonial and contextualized perspective, based on bibliographic, documentar, and oral narrative sources, the text analyses the tensions between the university education received in the Art Education course – specialization in Music at the Federal University or Pará (UFPA), wich began in 1998, and the teaching and managemente experiences lived in the state and municipal public education networks. The narrative spans a historical period beginning in 1971 and extending to 2025, intertwining history and memory, theory and pratice, highlighting the challenges of multi-skilled tezching, the structural limitations of educational policies, and the creation of methodologies rooted in local culture, such as Banguê, Carimbó, and Bumba-Meu-Boi. The conclusions revealed that the art educator is a historical subject who resists and recreates pedagogical practices amids the tides of the Amazon, afirming art as a field of emancipation, belonging, creation, and re-existence.
