Abstract: This exploratory-descriptive study focused on obtaining information about the professors of the academic programs taught at the Escuela Superior de Comercio y Administración, campus Tepepan (ESCA Tepepan), of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), regarding the perception of research as part of their teaching work to contribute to the training of high-level professionals, because it is observed that few teachers attend to this aspect, which affects the advances and scientific innovation in this area of knowledge. The information was obtained through a closed questionnaire previously submitted to validation, which was answered by a sample of 60 teachers. The results show that teachers give greater importance to the use in practice of pre-existing scientific knowledge and identify the relationship between research and professional training, however, they consider that it is difficult to develop formal research. The study shows factors related to low productivity in this area and includes suggestions on actions to be implemented to motivate teachers in research training activities and in conducting formal studies.
