PANCREATITIS IN SMALL ANIMALS: HOW TO MAKE THE DIAGNOSIS

Canine pancreatitis is an inflammation that affects the animal's pancreas, and its appearance can be triggered by severalfactors, such as high fat consumption, hormonal disorders, circulatory problems, overweight, among others, and can evenbe idiopathic.Pancreatitis can have two forms of presentation: the acute form, which happens when the inflammation canbe reversible, and the chronic form, characterized by irreversible inflammation. Its clinical signs vary between vomiting, diarrhea, prayer position, inappetence, abdominal pain. For the diagnosis, we use several tests in our favor in veterinary medicine, such as blood tests, imaging tests and specific tests, because a clinical picture alone will not give us an accuratediagnosis for a patient who has pancreatitis. And with these exams we can refer ourselves to the best treatment for our  patient.
