Abstract: The Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) constitutes one of the main instruments of development support, allowing developing countries to export goods with reduced or exempt tariffs to the markets of more industrialized nations. In the case of Mozambique, the relationship with China under the GSP presents both opportunities and challenges. This article seeks to analyze the benefits and challenges of this participation, highlighting the relevance of the GSP as a mechanism for promoting exports, productive diversification, and international integration, while also pointing out the risks of dependency, external vulnerability, and the low added value of exports. The research is based on a qualitative approach supported by a literature review, documentary analysis of reports from UNCTAD, the World Bank, and the WTO, as well as specialized literature on international trade and economic integration. The results indicate the need for Mozambique to strengthen industrialization policies, improve the quality of exports, and diversify trade partnerships. However, challenges such as compliance with rules of origin, economic dependency, and global competition limit the full utilization of the GSP. It is recommended that strategies be adopted to improve Mozambique’s export capacity.
