OS/AS CATADORES/AS DE MATERIAIS RECICLÁVEIS E PROCESSO SAÚDE-DOENÇA: UM ESTUDO NA COOPERATIVA CATAMAIS EM CAMPINA GRANDE-PB
Considerando as transformações ocorridas no mundo do trabalho e o crescimento expressivo do desemprego, muitos trabalhadores encontram na reciclagem do lixo, a possibilidade de garantir o sustento de suas famílias. Frente a precariedade de tal ocupação e a situação de exclusão social a que estão submetidos cotidianamente, os/as catadores/as de materiais recicláveis, realizam tal atividade num contexto caracterizado pela ausência total de proteção social, que os coloca em uma posição de riscos a sua saúde, considerando as condições insalubres de trabalho a que se submetem. Nesta perspectiva, o presente estudo teve como objetivo principal, analisar a percepção dos/ as catadores/as de materiais recicláveis da cooperativa (CATAMAIS) no município de Campina Grande-PB, acerca do processo saúde-doença. A partir da realização da pesquisa ora apresentada, foi possível identificar que, apesar dos catadores/as de materiais recicláveis, perceberem os riscos a que estão expostos constantemente, veêm tal ocupação, como uma importante alternativa de sobrevivência, frente ao contexto de exclusão social a que estão submetidos.

Abstract:
Considering the changes that have occurred in the world of work and the significant increase in unemployment, many
workers find in the recycling of garbage the possibility of guaranteeing the livelihood of their families. In view of the precariousness of such occupation and the situation of social exclusion to which they are subjected every day, recyclers of recyclable material carry out this activity in a context characterized by the total absence of social protection, which puts them in a position of risks to their health, considering the unhealthy conditions of work to which they submit.
