Open Innovation in Family SMEs: A review of the current state of the art.

' A la fecha, la investigación de la innovación abierta en pymes familiares se encuentra en etapas emergentes, si bien han existido investigaciones inmersas en el estado del arte de la O.I estas se han centrado en grandes empresas familiares, generándose interesantes vacíos de conocimiento entorno a las pymes familiares. Estas últimas han demostrado capacidades y habilidades que favorecen la innovación de manera colaborativa, de igual forma, existen experiencias que rescatan como su orientación hacia la continuidad impulsa el relacionamiento y asociatividad en el ecosistema empresarial; sin embargo, este conocimiento se encuentra fragmentado y disperso. Por ello, el objetivo principal de esta investigación es realizar una revisión crítica y sistemática del estado del arte con foco en las oportunidades y desafíos que la O.I ofrece a las pymes familiares. La metodología empleada ha sido PRISMA 2020 por el rigor científico que proporciona y la posibilidad de réplica para futuras investigaciones. Se han logrado rescatar importantes insights de provecho para los gestores de pymes familiares, así como también, integrar la literatura de interés en un solo cuerpo de estudio. Esta investigación propone interesantes gaps para futuras investigaciones en materia de O.I en pymes familiares.

  • Abstract: To date, research on open innovation in family SMEs is in its emerging stages. Although there have been studies immersed in the state of the art of OI, these have focused on large family businesses, creating interesting knowledge gaps around family SMEs. The latter have demonstrated capabilities and skills that favor collaborative innovation. Similarly, there are experiences highlighting how their orientation towards continuity drives relationships and associations within the business ecosystem; however, this knowledge is fragmented and dispersed. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to conduct a critical and systematic review of the state of the art, focusing on the opportunities and challenges that OI offers to family SMEs. The methodology employed was PRISMA 2020 due to the scientific rigor it provides and its replicability for future research. Important insights have been gained for family SME managers, as well as the integration of relevant literature into a single body of study. This research proposes interesting gaps for future studies in the field of OI in family SMEs.
