Abstract: This study investigates the role of geoprocessing as a strategic tool in preventing and combating urban violence, focusing on the state of Paraná and, in more detail, on analyses conducted in the municipality of Londrina, Paraná. Data from the Center for Analysis, Planning, and Statistics (CAPE), an agency affiliated with the Paraná State Secretariat for Public Security (SESP/PR), were used. The study focused on criminal incidents, particularly those related to violence against women in public spaces. The results indicate that the use of geoprocessing makes it possible to identify areas of greater vulnerability, map crime patterns, and support the planning of more consistent preventive and repressive actions. Furthermore, it is evident that the spatialization of information is a fundamental resource for guiding the formulation of public security policies, enabling better resource allocation and the development of coordinated strategies. It is also worth noting that, despite limitations such as underreporting of records, this technology is consolidating itself as an indispensable tool for public security management, by favoring both the improvement of institutional efficiency and the strengthening of society's sense of protection.
