THE ROLE OF NURSING IN THE ASSISTED HUMAN REPRODUCTION PROCESS
Advances in Assisted Human Reproduction (AHR) techniques have become a constant. These methods enable infertile couples, as well as same-sex couples, to become parents. This study aims to analyze the role of nursing in the AHR process. To identify the causes or reasons for assisted human reproduction—specifically in vitro fertilization (IVF)—to define the role of nurses in accordance with policies and guidelines on ART, and to describe the various ART methods and the corresponding nursing care involved in this process. This study is justified by the importance of the topic, which involves the role of nurses in the field of ART. The methodology is based on an integrative review that combines ART and the role of nurses. Although it is a new field, the role of nurses is fundamental during treatment; however, it is observed that, in the context of reproductive biotechnological practices, there is little engagement from the “good” professionals that the market demands.
