Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the role of physical exercise in the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Methods: The integrative literature review involved the analysis of 25 studies found on the PubMed and Regional Portal of BVS platforms of the Ministry of Health. Results: From the studies, it was possible to observe that there is solid evidence of the benefits of physical exercise on cardiovascular health, emphasizing not only the importance of regular physical activity in reducing the risk of CVD, but also exploring the complex signaling pathways involved in exercise-induced cardiac protection. Additionally, the possible risks associated with exercise, especially in certain patient groups, were discussed, as well as the need for an individualized approach to exercise prescription. The results also highlighted the importance of promoting physical activity in specific populations and exploring innovative strategies in promoting cardiovascular health. Final Considerations: In conclusion, the findings of this study reinforce the importance of physical exercise as a fundamental strategy in the prevention and treatment of CVD, while also pointing to the ongoing need for research and evidence-based interventions to improve cardiovascular health outcomes at the population level.
