Abstract: The transition process from active military service to paid reserve status can impact the physical, social, and mental health of public security agents in the Military Police. Therefore, reflection is needed regarding the planning and implementation of actions to prepare these officers for retirement in a facilitated manner, aiming to minimize the negative impacts of inactivity on military police officers. This study aims to evaluate the impacts of inactivity on the mental health of military police officers, relating the loss of professional identity to the possible development of psychological illnesses. The methodology used for this study was bibliographic research, using search tools for articles, journals, and books available online on platforms such as Google Scholar, SciELO, PubMed, CAPES Platform, and the scientific journal PMPA em Revista. Approximately 28 articles were evaluated after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, all corresponding to the study's theme. The results show that the absence of active work performance due to entering the paid reserve can contribute to the development of psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt practices that replace active work and aim to reduce idle time.
