Abstract: Indigenous school education constitutes an important space for cultural appreciation, identity preservation, and the promotion of dialogue among different forms of knowledge. In this context, the concepts of multiculturality and interculturality play a central role in the construction of pedagogical practices committed to the ethnic and cultural diversity of Indigenous peoples. This article aims to discuss the challenges and possibilities of multiculturality and interculturality in Indigenous school education, with emphasis on the reality of Indigenous communities located in the municipality of Oiapoque, in the state of Amapá, Brazil. This is a bibliographic study with a qualitative approach, based on authors such as Candau, Walsh, Freire, Boaventura de Sousa Santos, Arroyo, Munanga and Baniwa, as well as legal documents that regulate Indigenous education in Brazil. The results indicate that the implementation of intercultural education requires overcoming monocultural pedagogical models, strengthening teacher training, valuing traditional knowledge, and ensuring the active participation of Indigenous communities in educational processes. It is concluded that multiculturality, when associated with critical interculturality, contributes to the construction of a democratic, inclusive, and socially committed education.
