MODELO PREDICTIVO DEL RENDIMIENTO ACADÉMICO DE ESTUDIANTES DE INGENIERÍA QUÍMICA EN EL ÁREA DE MATEMÁTICAS
Se presenta un modelo predictivo del desempeño de los estudiantes de Ingeniería Química del Instituto Tecnológico de Pachuca en el área de matemáticas, con base en los resultados del examen de ingreso. Se realizó una investigación cuantitativa, con enfoque correlacional y descriptivo. Se estudiaron 380 estudiantes a lo largo de siete cohortes generacionales, de 2012 a 2016. Se encontró una correspondencia directa entre el promedio obtenido en las materias y los puntos en las áreas de matemáticas del examen. Se establecieron tres bloques según el ICNE obtenido: 700-999, 1000-1149 y 1150-1300; se compararon los resultados de siete materias del área de matemáticas, considerando la oportunidad de acreditación o no acreditación (primer curso, repetición, especial). Así, se determinó un modelo de correspondencia que permite predecir con alto grado de confiabilidad, el desempeño del estudiante en el área de matemáticas desde su ingreso, y proponer acciones preventivas para mejorar su rendimiento académico

Abstract:
A predictive model of the performance of Chemical Engineering students of the Technological Institute of Pachuca in the area of mathematics is presented, based on the results of the entrance exam. A quantitative research was carried out, with a correlational and descriptive approach. 380 students were studied along seven generational cohorts, from 2012 to 2016. A direct correspondence was found between the average obtained in the subjects and the points in the mathematics areas of the exam. Three blocks were established according to the ICNE obtained: 700-999, 1000-1149 and 1150-1300; The results of seven subjects in the area of mathematics were compared, considering the opportunity for accreditation or non-accreditation (first year, repetition, special). Thus, a correspondence model was determined that allows predicting, with a high degree of reliability, the student's performance in the area of mathematics since admission, and proposing preventive actions to improve their academic performance.
