Abstract: The genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1:1-17bis often understood merely as a historical record tracing the lineage of Jesus within the history of Israel; however, a deeper theological reading reveals a significant message, particularly through the inclusion of several women-Tamar, Rahab , Ruth, the wife of Uriah, and ultimately Mary, the mother of Jesus-which is highly unusual within in patriarchal Jewish tradition that emphasizes male lineage and social honor. In light of this, the presence of Mary at the culmination of the geneaology becomes theologically meaningful, as it reflects God’s salvific action that transcends cultural norms and structures that marginalize womwn. This study aims to to analyze the role of Mary in geanology of Jesus according to Matthew 1:1-17 and to explore its significance within a spiritual theological framework as an inspiration for the liberation of women from cultural discrimination. Using a qualitative method with a library research approach and a contextual feminist hermeneutical perspective, this research examines biblical texts alongside relevant theological literature. The findings indicate that Mary not only represent the climax of the geneology but also embodies God’s work through those who are culturally marginalized, thereby presenting her as aspritual paradigms for affirming the dignity of women and encouraging transformative efforts toward liberation from cultural discrimination that places women in subordinate positions.
