MANUEL DEL CABRAL: EL POETA FILÓSOFO
-Aunque en su principal obra Platón haya expulsado a los poetas de la ciudad ideal, no cabe duda de que filosofía y poesía tienen mucho en común. Los grandes poetas tan bien son filósofos. Esto se debe a que los grandes temas con que se enfrenta la filosofía no son exclusivos para los filósofos, aunque éstos se dediquen con más ahínco a la tarea de reflexionarlos. Hacer filosofía es una tarea humana, pues a través de esta pensamos las cuestiones más trascendentales que preocupan a la humanidad, desde sus orígenes hasta ahora. Filosofar es pensar lo mejor posible sobre Dios, la vida, la muerte, el ser, el hombre, la moral, el conocimiento y otros más. Precisamente esto es lo que ocurre con la poesía metafísica de Manuel del Cabral. Pensador profundo que, utilizando la metáfora, deja traslucir una preocupación por escudriñar lo que somos, el ser humano con sus angustias, temores, anhelos y vicisitudes. Una poesía filosófica aterrizada en la contingencia humana. Se trata, el presente ensayo, de un estudio hermenéutico crítico que abarca la producción literaria de este creador inmenso, recogida en una magistral obra (Permanencia Inmaterial), editada y publicada por la Editora nacional en el año dos mil once y que desde entonces es un libro de referencia para los estudios de este vate de la literatura dominicana e Hispanoamericana.

-Although in his main work Platón has expelled the poets from the ideal city, there is no doubt that philosophy and poetry have much in common. The great poets are so well philosophers. I say this because the great issues that philosophy deals with are not exclusive to philosophers, even if they dedicate themselves more diligently to the task of reflecting on them. Doing philosophy is a human task, because through this we think about the most transcendental questions that concern humanity, from its origins until now. Philosophizing is thinking the best possible about God, life, death, being, man, morality, knowledge and others. This is precisely what happens with the metaphysical poetry of Manuel del Cabral. Deep thinker who, using metaphor, reveals a concern to scrutinize who we are, the human being with his anguish, fears, longings and vicissitudes. A philosophical poetry grounded in human contingency. This essay is about a critical hermeneutical study that covers the literary production of this immense creator, collected in a masterful work (Immaterial Permanence), edited and published by the National Publisher in the year two thousand eleven and that since then is a reference book for the studies of this group of Dominican and Hispanic American literature.
