Abstract: Arterial hypertension is a global public health concern, associated with serious cardiovascular complications. Proper management of hypertensive crises in the emergency setting is crucial to prevent adverse outcomes. This review investigated the management of patients with hypertension in the emergency department, examining therapies, treatments, and clinical outcomes. The research encompassed 25 articles, selected after inclusion and exclusion criteria. Analysis of the studies revealed the complexity of hypertension management in the emergency department, emphasizing the need for a multidisciplinary and personalized approach. Therapies such as nicardipine have shown promise, but the lack of robust clinical trials in some areas underscores the need for further research. Telemedicine has emerged as a valuable tool, reducing the utilization of hospital services. Strict blood pressure control and early diagnosis were emphasized to improve outcomes. The individualized approach was deemed crucial, considering factors such as gender and comorbidities. In conclusion, this review highlighted the importance of a patient-centered approach, integrating scientific evidence and clinical practice to enhance the care and outcomes of patients with hypertension in the emergency department.
