Abstract: Specialists are actively involved in developing effective treatments for diseases such as hives. Therefore, several studies have been conducted to find the best therapeutic option—one that offers greater efficacy, fewer side effects, and better patient adherence. In the case of hives, the initially established most effective treatment, based on these studies, is second-generation antihistamines. These facts underlie the discussion of this case report, which compares clinical response to the use of first- and second-generation antihistamines, aiming to maintain adequate disease management, a lower risk of adverse effects, and a better quality of life for these patients.
