Retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma in a patient with benign metastatic leiomyomatosis: a case report
Benign metastatic leiomyomatosis is a rare, well-differentiated and hormone-dependent pathology. This article presents the case of a 70-year-old female patient with an image suggestive of neoplastic pulmonary nodules on a chest CT scan performed due to the presence of flu-like symptoms, who underwent a biopsy whose histopathological report showed benign metastatic leiomyomatosis. She remained without medical follow-up and after non-specific abdominal symptoms, a new abdominal CT scan showed an expansive retroperitoneal formation measuring 9.0 x 8.4cm. She underwent total surgical resection, which revealed a low-grade leiomyosarcoma in a histopathological and immunohistochemical report.
