Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to share the experience lived in the application of a didactic proposal with the intention of providing reflections on the importance of reading mediation in childhood and adolescence, as well as to generate interest in the reading of literary texts for children and young people that generate significant learning. An analysis of contemporary children's authors and works that highlight attractive elements for children was carried out, and the work Las gallinas de mi abuelo by Mexican author Francisco Hinojosa was chosen as a resource, due to its versatile structure, which serves as a guideline to create diverse learning situations, covered in a literary story characterized by its innocence and its wide vision of the world in cordial proximity to the human, thus complying with a wide list of literary and didactic attributes that the reader will be able to verify. After the general study of the selected text, with the intention of proposing pleasant reading experiences that motivate students to consider reading as another option for entertainment, didactic proposals were designed focused on providing options to the teacher and that, in addition, allow the child an approach to reading, considering their interests and needs.
