Abstract: This article investigates contemporary transformations in affective bonds by establishing a theoretical dialogue between Zygmunt Bauman’s sociology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The analysis is grounded in the philosophical foundations of Plato’s concept of Eros, understood as the incessant pursuit of what is lacking, in order to examine the transition toward “liquid love” in modernity. Through a narrative review, the study discusses how the digitalization of affects and the architecture of virtual relationships reshape commitment, replacing the depth of encounter with the convenience of disposable connection. From a CBT perspective, the article examines how this social liquidity is internalized by individuals, functioning as a trigger for cognitive distortions and Early Maladaptive Schemas. It is concluded that, although the digital environment fosters ephemerality and the fragility of “glass ties,” clinical practice provides resources for cognitive restructuring and the strengthening of frustration tolerance, enabling the recovery of emotional density and autonomy amid the fluidity of digital seas.
