LA UAO/UAZ, ¿ES UNA ESCUELA SOSTENIBLE
Una escuela sostenible es aquella que busca promover e impulsar en su colectividad acciones que generen o propicien un cambio de actitud y valores ante la naturaleza y sus recursos, que los motive a actuar para mejorar el medio ambiente natural, social y profesional, propiciar la equidad, la justicia y la paz. Esta referencia nos lleva a la necesidad de generar ciudadanos competentes para entender, comprender y actuar frente al actual escenario de degradación ambiental, debemos de pensar y resaltar el papel fundamental que juegan las instituciones sociales y educativas para la generación y recreación de este tipo de ciudadanos, como lo es el caso en particular de la escuela, lugar social y educativo. Por ello nuestro objetivo es realizar un diagnóstico exploratorio-situacional de la Unidad Académica de Odontología de la Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas (UAO/UAZ) para determinar en un primer momento si es o no una escuela sostenible o se está trabajando para ello; la metodología utilizada fue propia de un estudio de corte exploratorio mixto. Se concluyó como primer avance que desafortunadamente para la comunidad universitaria de esta institución no es una escuela sostenible, y que si en algún momento se piensa transitar hacia esta tendencia se tendrá que realizar un amplio trabajo de reestructuración integral a nivel general y particular del currículo oficial.

Abstract:
A sustainable school is one that seeks to promote and encourage actions in its community that generate or foster a change of attitude and values towards nature and its resources, that motivates them to act to improve the natural, social and professional environment, to promote equity, justice and peace. This reference leads us to the need to generate competent citizens to understand, comprehend and act before the current scenario of environmental degradation, we must think and highlight the fundamental role played by social and educational institutions for the generation and recreation of this type of citizens, as is particularly the case of the school, a social and educational place. Therefore, our objective is to carry out an exploratory-situational diagnosis of the Academic Unit of Dentistry of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAO/UAZ) to determine at first whether or not it is a sustainable school or is working towards it; the methodology used was that of a mixed exploratory study. It was concluded as a first step that unfortunately for the university community of this institution it is not a sustainable school, and that if at some point it is intended to move towards this trend, a comprehensive restructuring work will have to be carried out at a general and particular level of the official curriculum.
