Abstract: During a brief interview in migrant shelters in Mexico, an instrument exploring emotional and behavioral issues was administered to 49 children and adolescents on transit towards the United Sates. Seventeen girls and 21 boys. All were in the process of migrating to the United States border. All reported mild emotional and behavioral concerns. As expected, Internalizing problems were more prevalent, particularly amongst women. Male adolescent show significantly higher externalizing patterns of behavior. The need to address emotional and behavior problems in children an adolescent crossing Mexico on their journey to the United States is discussed, pondering implications for mental health and social stability.
