Abstract: Obstetric violence (OV) represents a serious violation of women's rights, negatively impacting their mental health. During pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, many women experience situations of disrespect, as well as physical and psychological abuse, which can trigger disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Humanizing childbirth and combating violent practices are essential to ensuring respectful and dignified care for pregnant women. Furthermore, it is crucial that healthcare professionals receive training to avoid unnecessary interventions and provide more ethical and humane care. This study aims to analyze the impacts of obstetric violence on women's mental health. This integrative review involved a literature search in the BVS and Medline databases, considering articles published between 2020 and 2025. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, eight articles were selected to comprise the final review sample. The findings revealed that obstetric violence occurs through practices such as invasive examinations without consent, unnecessary episiotomies, denial of a companion, excessive medicalization, and disrespectful attitudes. These situations are associated with significant mental health outcomes, such as postpartum depression, anxiety, PTSD, and difficulties in maternal-child bonding. It was also found that the lack of information among women about their rights, combined with professional unpreparedness and social inequalities, contributes to the persistence of this reality. It is concluded that obstetric violence is an urgent public health challenge, as it affects both childbirth and women’s mental health and quality of life. It is essential to expand women’s knowledge about their rights and ensure greater autonomy during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. It is also important to highlight the need for professional training and public policies aimed at humanizing care.
