Abstract: This article presents the results of the synthesis of compounds derived from 2-phenyl-1,8 naphthyridine and their application primarily as antimicrobial agents against strains of hospital importance of Candida albicans, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus strains. Then, the synthesized compounds were used together with Ru3(CO)12 as a catalyst for the hydrogen transfer reaction from acetophenone to 1-phenylethanol, identifying a new ruthenium complex and evidence on the factors that affect this reaction what is important in the pharmaceutical industry.
