Abstract: The research focused on determining the academic performance in Mathematics of pre-secondary students during the 2020 pandemic in the Herrera region, using digital tools or teaching guides. A quantitative and qualitative approach was used with a non-experimental research design. The entire pre-middle student population (7th, 8th and 9th) was studied, the academic performance of the students at the end of the year in Mathematics was evaluated, information provided by the Regional Directorate of Education, as well as digital tools or teaching guides used during the teaching-learning process in times of pandemic. It was concluded that both Classroom and the teaching guides stand out as the most effective digital tools for learning Mathematics at all grades, with high approval rates at each level. In seventh grade, both tools were equally effective, with very similar approval rates (95.6% and 93%, respectively). However, in eighth and ninth grade, although Classroom and the teaching guides remained very effective, significant use of Microsoft Teams was observed in ninth grade, although with slightly lower pass rates (94.8%).
