Generation of Vector Data for Railway Right-of-Way Using Geotechnologies Applied to Line N in the City of Toluca

Rail Line N in the city of Toluca is a representative example and prototypical case of the problems found along the railway network that crosses urban areas in Mexico. This railway line can be part of the solution to the mobility problem in the Toluca Valley Metropolitan Area (ZMVT), without losing sight of its economic and competitive advantages, but it is necessary to understand that the city and the railway generate externalities that affect both due to the city’s inadequate integration of the railway.
However, to begin an analysis, it is necessary to create and maintain inventories related to urban-railway issues, and for this information to be presented in vector formats; in order to identify the spatial distribution pattern of the problem itself that arises within the railway infrastructure; and this will serve to generate indices, tables, and all such spatially-based information found in the infrastructure and superstructure elements of the railway system contained within the large polygons comprising railway tracks and yards, which are typically large tracts of land located both within and outside the city, which are found along Line N and can be identified as a strip crossing the city from one side to the other, creating a discontinuity in the city’s layout.
