Abstract: This study evaluates the effect of curing conditions on the properties of concrete, focusing on laboratory-controlled versus real construction site environments. Cylindrical specimens molded on-site were split into two groups: one cured under ideal laboratory conditions in accordance with NBR 5738, and another subjected to field conditions. After 28 days, mechanical and physical tests were conducted: compressive strength (NBR 5739), static modulus of elasticity (NBR 8522), and capillary water absorption (NBR 9779). Results revealed performance losses of up to 40% in strength and 50% in elasticity modulus for specimens cured on-site. Capillarity absorption was also higher in field samples, indicating increased porosity. The findings highlight the relevance of technically structured curing practices, especially under environmental variability. This study contributes to improving concrete quality control strategies in civil engineering practice.
