Abstract: The Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945) was one of the most violent and decisive episodes of the twentieth century, leaving a profound legacy on the political and social landscape of Asia. More than a regional conflict, it marked a turning point in the formation of the People’s Republic of China and in the consolidation of its role as an emerging global power. This study analyzes the economic, political, and social impacts of the war on China’s development process, with particular attention to the rise of the Communist Party and the structural transformations that followed the end of the conflict. Supported by an interdisciplinary theoretical framework—integrating history, economics, politics, and international relations—the research seeks to understand how the experience of war shaped China’s national project and contributed to the country’s repositioning in the international system throughout the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
