DEVELOPMENT OF AN EDUCATIONAL DISPLAY ON SUS CONTRACEPTIVE METHODS AS A HEALTH EDUCATION STRATEGY

Educational technologies play a fundamental role in promoting health by fostering communication between professionals and users, facilitating the teaching-learning process, and contributing to the shared construction of knowledge. In the context of Primary Health Care, these resources strengthen health education initiatives and expand the population’s access to essential health care information. This study aims to report on the experience of developing and using an educational display on contraceptive methods provided by the Unified Health System (SUS), created during Supervised Internship I in Public Health as part of the Nursing Program at the Federal University of Amapá Foundation (UNIFAP). The idea arose from the observation that there was a lack of visual materials to support reproductive planning guidance at the São Pedro Basic Health Unit and was inspired by an experience observed during a health education initiative held at the Federal Institute of Amapá (IFAP), Santana campus. The panel was designed to include illustrations of male condoms, female condoms, oral contraceptive pills, injectable contraceptives, diaphragms, copper intrauterine devices (copper IUDs), and emergency contraception, and was used as a support tool during sexual and reproductive health counseling sessions. Its use facilitated interaction between professionals and users, encouraged participation during the sessions, and helped make the information more accessible and understandable. It is concluded that educational technologies constitute effective strategies for strengthening health education initiatives and improving the quality of care provided in Primary Health Care.
