THE COMMITMENT OF STUDENTS TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: CASE STUDY
La presente investigación es un estudio descriptivo que se realizó con el objetivo de analizar el compromiso de los estudiantes del Instituto Tecnológico de San Luis Potosí (ITSLP) hacia el desarrollo sustentable, a partir de sus estilos de vida, actitudes y participación activa en acciones ambientales. Se aplicó la técnica de la encuesta, para lo cual se construyó un cuestionario con 22 ítems, los cuales evalúan las dimensiones: estilo de vida y actitudes, la muestra fue de 130 estudiantes. Los resultados indican que en el estilo de vida, sólo la variable de cuidado del agua presenta un interés fuerte, mientras que la del cuidado de la energía eléctrica tiene interés medio, el resto de las variables muestran un débil interés. Mientras que en la dimensión de actitudes, existe un fuerte interés por las variables relacionadas con considerar el cambio climático como un asunto serio y el respeto a las reglas establecidas para ingresar a sitios históricos o reservas naturales; las variables restantes se ubican en un interés medio. Una de las conclusiones es que la institución debe trabajar más con sus estudiantes para que tengan un fuerte compromiso con el desarrollo sustentable.

Abstract:
The present investigation is a descriptive study that was carried out with the objective of analyzing the commitment of the students of the Technological Institute of San Luis Potosí (ITSLP) towards sustainable development, based on their Life styles, attitudes and active participation in environmental actions. The survey technique was applied, for which a questionnaire with 22 items was built, which evaluate the dimensions: Life style and attitudes, the sample was 130 students. The results indicate that in Life style, only the water care variable presents a strong interest, while the electrical energy care variable has medium interest, the rest of the variables show weak interest. While in the dimension of attitudes, there is a strong interest in the variables related to considering climate change as a serious matter and respect for the rules established to enter historical sites or natural reserves; the remaining variables are located in a medium interest. One of the conclusions is that the institution must work more with its students so that they have a strong commitment to sustainable development.
