Abstract: This article addresses the effects of feeding therapy on children with picky eating, characterized by refusal and restricted preference for certain foods. The selectivity ranges from food neophobia to avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, impacting nutrition and child development. A narrative review analyzed 38 studies published between 2015 and 2025, investigating therapeutic strategies to broaden food acceptance. Approaches such as Food Chaining, the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) method, and the Division of Responsibility in Feeding (sDOR) promote gradual introduction of new foods without pressure, fostering child autonomy. Feeding therapy combined with family support and contact with nature is effective in reducing selectivity, improving nutritional status and quality of life. Nutritional supplementation with micronutrients is also recommended for children with specific needs. The study highlights the importance of individualized multidisciplinary interventions involving behavioral, sensory, and nutritional aspects for successful treatment of picky eating.
