Abstract: The article “Inclusive Education: Teaching Mathematics Through Sign Language” discusses the challenges and opportunities involved in integrating deaf students into mathematics education, highlighting the importance of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) as a key tool in this process. This qualitative study, based on bibliographic and documentary research, aims to analyze how assistive technologies—especially Libras—can help overcome the learning barriers faced by deaf students in mathematics. The research also seeks to reflect on pedagogical practices and teacher training in inclusive education contexts. The findings suggest that using Libras in math instruction can enhance the understanding of abstract concepts, leading to more meaningful learning experiences for deaf students. However, the study points out that teachers' training remains insufficient to meet the specific needs of these learners, emphasizing the need for better preparation in using Libras effectively in classrooms. Furthermore, the article notes that the lack of specific signs for mathematical terms in Libras presents an additional challenge, requiring the creation of new signs or adaptations to convey content accurately. Collaboration between teachers and Libras interpreters is considered crucial for ensuring effective communication and learning outcomes for deaf students. The study concludes that to achieve truly inclusive education, it is essential to invest in continuous teacher training, the development of accessible teaching materials, and the recognition of Libras as a valid language of instruction. Integrating Libras effectively into math education not only supports the academic success of deaf students but also fosters a more equitable and respectful educational environment that values diversity.
